A man with passion

Jeff Lovgren

As a youth he was a competitive swimmer and won several medals at the local and regional level.  In high school he gave up swimming to pursue baseball, where he helped his team to have one of the best seasons in their history.  He did not compete in athletics while attending Wichita State University.

Many years later, looking to get back into shape, he came across the sport of triathlon.  Quickly gaining success, Lovgren qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships at his first half Ironman distance.  After having a disappointing showing at Worlds due to improper hydration, Lovgren started educating himself.  Lovgren has since found success at all distance triathlons.  Now certified through the USA Olympic Level I Triathlon Coach, Youth and Junior Coach and Level III Cycling Coach, Lovgren uses his experience and knowledge to assist others to achieve their goals.

Lovgren first started as a volunteer coach for the Andover YMCA triathlon club.  After seeing a need to take the program beyond the YMCA’s commitment, he cofounded the Wichita Triathlon Team.  Lovgren has had tremendous success thus far in his coaching career.  Since founding WTT in 2012, he has coached hundreds of first time athletes to swim, bike, and run.  Many of his athletes have gone on to find success of their own, medaling at local and regional events. Now it is time for the next step. Enter The Endurance Factory! Just about to wrap up the first year as the areas most successful group training program, Lovgren is looking to expand the group programs for 2018.

Carrying over his success to the collegiate level, Lovgren is the head-coach for the Newman University Triathlon Team.  Now in year four as Kansas’s first and only collegiate triathlon team. Lovgren is excited for the possibilities this holds for Wichita’s triathlon community.

Off the field, Lovgren enjoys working in his garage on various automobile and wood working projects.  He is supported at home by his wife and son, Jennifer and Jackson, and their dogs, Oliver and Ginger.  Lovgren has been an Eagle scout since 1999.
